Even though there can’t be music or cavorting outside on the patio after a certain hour, we’re working to convince the hotel to keep the bar open all night! So, for anyone without plans on Sunday, join us here and continue the celebration! This is for “residents only,” but if you want to join and are not a “resident,” please let us know in advance and we will add you to a room so you are technically resident and can have fun with us!
Please text or call either Peter or Tara if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Our dress code for Friday's dinner at The Ivy is cocktail attire – i.e. jackets requested, ties optional.
And for the party on Saturday night at Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, the dress code is casual. Jeans are entirely appropriate, but you are invited to dress however you feel most comfortable.
Please inform us as soon as possible so that we can meet your needs / desires.
Technically, Luton is the closest airport. However, this airport is primarily served by airlines like Easy Jet and Ryan Air etc. for European flights.
Heathrow is relatively close at about a 45-minute Uber ride depending on traffic.
Gatwick can be upwards of 1.5 hours by Uber depending on traffic. The 'Thameslink' train service also has a direct route from Gatwick to St Albans that takes 1–1.5 hours.
Most places are cashless (Apple Pay, etc.) and accept cards, but having a small amount of cash on hand can be helpful, particularly for smaller purchases. This is usually not needed though. Dinner (with wines) at The Ivy Brasserie on Friday and everything at Ye Olde Fighting Cocks on Saturday is on us. The hotel bar takes cards or can be charged to your room.
We have planned for this possibility and all events will be out of the rain. Please check the weather forecast – umbrellas and rain jackets are usually good to have in England!
Trains run frequently from St Albans City station to London stations such as St Pancras International, Farringdon, Blackfriars, and London Bridge (journey time ~20–35 minutes).
We recommend using Apple or Google Maps or the Citymapper app to plan your journey on public transport.
The historic center of St Albans is relatively small and easy to explore on foot, with most locations just a short walk apart. If needed, taxis and Ubers are easy to find. Maps/Google Maps are the easiest way to navigate.
We very much hope everyone is feeling well for the celebrations!
If you do feel unwell, we kindly ask that you rest and recover at the hotel or at home and sit this one out. Your health – and the comfort of all our guests – is most important to us. We will gladly share pictures later!
The hotel team will be happy to assist in arranging a doctor or pharmacist if needed.
